Bob Holt

Bob Holt is an award-winning writer and illustrator whose sense of humor, quirky characters, and distinctive art have been delighting audiences for years. Originally working as an illustrator and animator, Bob co-created the popular "Hoops and Yoyo" characters for Hallmark. Since then, he's gone on to a long and wide-ranging career in comics, digital products, greeting cards, and more! These days, he writes and illustrates children’s books, has his own cartoon strip, and drives his very patient and supportive wife, Debbie, nuts working from home. They live in Kansas City, Missouri, which is about as far from any ocean as you can get (which is sort of odd because he loves illustrating seagulls). They have two grown-up daughters and two cats…at the moment. Bob believes that there is nothing better than making people smile or laugh, and that’s what he tries to do with his creations. Bob's book "The Unlucky Kid" made the American Library Association's 2024 Best Graphic Novels for Children Reading List, and his book "The Red Jacket" won a Star of the North Picture Book Award, was nominated for the 2024-2025 Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award, and was named a 2024 Indigo Heather's Pick. Both books were JLG selections.
