Elizabeth Rose Stanton

Elizabeth Rose Stanton studied art history in college and went on to earn a professional degree in architecture at Columbia University. After a brief career as an architect and designer, she stepped away to devote herself full time to raising her kids. Since then, she has worked as a portrait and fine artist, scientific illustrator and, most recently, as an author and illustrator for children. Her first book, Henny (Simon & Schuster), was named a best picture book by the New York Public Library and received an American Library Association Booklist star. Henny was also a finalist for the SCBWI Crystal Kite Award and the Prix Jeunesse des Libraires du Quebec (French edition). She is also the author and illustrator of Peddles, Bub, and Cowie. Elizabeth is inordinately influenced by things with stripes, shiny things, and things that go bump in the night... and has an inexplicable penchant for ellipses... She lives in Seattle in a very old house under the shade of a very old giant sequoia named Victoria... with her husband and a Scottish Fold cat named Beatrix Potter.
